DR Congo vs Jamaica: Preview
The Reggae Boyz booked their place in the final with a 1-0 win over North Caledonia in the Path 1 semi-final on Thursday, Bailey Cadamarteri scoring the only goal of the game at Estadio Akron.
Jamaica topped their first group in CONCACAF qualifying with a 100% record and finished a point behind first-time qualifiers Curacao in the next round.
They were the talk of the town when they qualified for World Cup 1998 but it was, until now, a one-off. Stand-in coach Rudolph Speid replaced Steve McClaren last year and the ‘interim’ in his agreement could be in danger if he ends that absence after 28 years.

DR Congo finished second in their CAF qualifying group and have already had to win a couple of play-off matches to get this far.
They beat relative World Cup regulars Cameroon 1-0 to set up a CAF decider for Africa’s inter-confederation play-offs berth. After 120 minutes and a 1-1 draw with Nigeria, the Leopards won on penalties to earn a shot at the finals.
Now led by head coach Sebastien Desabre, DR Congo are yet to participate in the World Cup finals under that name. The nation’s only appearance came as Zaire in 1974 and produced one of the World Cup’s most infamous moments.
The winners of this match will be back at the World Cup for the first time in a generation or two and will take the last place in Group K, playing against Colombia, Portugal and Uzbekistan.
FourFourTwo’s prediction
DR Congo 2-1 Jamaica
The Leopards haven’t played a World Cup qualifier for a while but their competitive football schedule has been busy and there will be no lack of sharpness.
