Arsenal are in the midst of their biggest squad rebuild in recent memory.

The Gunners need to offload several senior players before the summer transfer window slams shut at the end of the month, with Lucas Torreira, Willian and Hector Bellerin all seemingly seeking a move away from the Emirates Stadium.

The north London club have already signed Norway captain Martin Odegaard, English centre-half Ben White, Belgian midfielder Albert Sambi Lokonga and Portuguese left-back Nuno Tavares, with Sheffield United goalkeeper Aaron Ramsdale also set to be announced as an Arsenal player in the coming days.

Ramsdale, who is set to sign for an initial £24million, is initially expected to play second fiddle to current no.1 Bernd Leno, who has been the first-choice ‘keeper ever since former head coach Unai Emery brought him to the club in 2018.

However, ESPN have reported that this season could be Leno’s last with the Gunners, claiming the German international will battle it out with Ramsdale for the starting spot this term before likely parting ways with the club next summer.

football.london revealed back in May that the 29-year-old is seeking a new challenge and that Arsenal are open to letting him leave if the price is right.

The transfer window is in full swing and things are beginning to ramp up with Edu and Mikel Arteta’s dealings at the Emirates.

football.london understands that Leno wants to play regular European football but he is unlikely to force a move away from the Emirates unless a formal offer is received, although he has been coy when asked about his Arsenal future.

“I don’t want to flee here, I feel good and want to be successful again with Arsenal! Arsenal are a big club, which is extremely underestimated in Germany, there are many Arsenal fans all over the world,” he told German publication Sport 1.

“I still have a two-year contract and hope to play in the Champions League again with Arsenal.”
