Albert Sambi Lokonga is reportedly able to select his dream shirt number once he is finally confirmed as an Arsenal player.

The Belgian midfielder is on the verge of becoming Arsenal’s second summer signing following the prior arrival of Nuno Tavares from Benfica.

football.london understands that a deal worth in the region of £18million is set to take Sambi Lokonga to the Emirates Stadium from Anderlecht, with reports also suggesting that he underwent a medical with the Gunners last week.

Whilst the formalities are yet to be completed ahead of him becoming an Arsenal player, he should have no problem in selecting his ideal squad number as soon as he is announced.

Since breaking through into the Anderlecht first-team, the 21-year-old has consistently donned the 48 shirt – and for good reason.

According to Belgian outlet HBVL, it is in reference to the postcode of his hometown of Verviers which apparently holds the number 4800.

Of course, that selection will be of no problem with none of the current squad currently donning that number.

The summer window is officially open, and it’s going to be tough to keep up with the comings and goings in and out of the Emirates.

Should Sambi Lokonga be handed the number, his shirt would become the highest squad number at the Emirates Stadium. As it stands, Karl Hein currently holds that record with the Estonian selecting the number 44.

Sambi Lokonga is set to move to Arsenal following a successful period with Belgian giants Anderlecht.

He has gone on to make 78 appearances for the club in his time since breaking through into the first-team. His form last season caught the eye enough for him to be included in Roberto Martinez’s preliminary squad for the 2020 European Championships.
