Andre Silva has told Edu how much it would cost Arsenal to complete transfer for his signature

Arsenal have opened talks with German club Eintracht Frankfurt in a bid to try and seal the signing of Portugal international Andre Silva.

That is according to the Transfer Window Podcast, who say the Gunners have reached out to the Bundesliga club to try and sign the 25-year-old to improve their goalscoring output.

Despite seeing Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang score 29 times during the 2019/20 season, the former Borussia Dortmund ace struggled in front of goal during the 2020/21 campaign, scoring just 15 in all competitions.

That has raised some concerns amongst the Arsenal supporters that a new goal-getter could be in need of being added to the squad this summer.

And it now seems that Arsenal’s hierarchy may be sharing the same point of view, with them reportedly showing an interest in Silva, who scored 28 goals in the Bundesliga in the season just finished.

Back in April, fellow Premier League heavyweights Manchester United were also linked with Silva’s signature, with it being reported at the time that the Portuguese ace had a release clause within his contract at £26million.

With rumours about his future at the time rife, Silva was asked what he felt he was worth and how much he thought Frankfurt would be prepared to sell him for.

After initially joking that he would cost more than £100m, the striker then admitted he felt around the £30m mark.

Speaking to O Jogo, as cited by the Manchester Evening News, Silva said: Around 105million? I’m kidding. I think I heard £30million somewhere. When we sell our merchandise, we always increase the value a little bit.

The summer window is officially open, and it’s going to be tough to keep up with the comings and goings in and out of the Emirates.

“Things are as they are and, whatever happens around us, the important thing is to look at me and what I can do.”

As well as addressing how much he thought he was worth, the striker also addressed his future and the links with a move to the Premier League.

“I’ve heard rumours, but that is it. Rumours are rumours,” Silva added.

“It’s something that gives me more motivation to work, as it’s a sign that what I have accomplished has borne fruit and the path has been good.”
