Arsenal and Huddersfield Town fans agree about Yaya Sanogo after what he did vs Cardiff City

It was not a night to remember for former Arsenal striker Yaya Sanogo at Huddersfield Town this evening.

The 28-year-old French striker made his full debut for the Terriers tonight as Carlos Corberan’s side faced Cardiff City in the Championship at the John Smith’s Stadium.

But it did not go to plan for the former Gunner, with Sanogo missing the chance to win the game from the penalty spot in the 76th minute.

Stepping up to try and give his new side the lead after Aaron Rowe had been fouled by Curtis Nelson, Sanogo blasted the ball wide of Dillon Phillips’ goal as Cardiff City held on for a point.

Sanogo’s miss was Huddersfield’s third unsuccessful spot kick this season, with the Terriers the only side in the Championship to have missed three penalties.

Fraizer Campbell and Juninho Bacuna were the other players to miss from the spot this season for Huddersfield.

But it was Sanogo’s spot kick that has got Huddersfield and Arsenal fans talking this evening, with the penalty miss sparking a response via social media.

Here’s what fans have been saying.

This was Sanogo’s first start for Huddersfield since his move to west Yorkshire, having made substitute appearances against Preston North End and Birmingham City since joining the Terriers on a free transfer last month.

Sanogo had previously been playing in France for Toulouse, having left Arsenal in 2017.

During his four years with Arsenal, Sanogo scored one goal in 19 appearances for the Gunners, while he had loan spells at Crystal Palace, Ajax and Charlton Athletic.
