Arsenal and Tottenham to go head-to-head with Mauricio Pochettino for Real Madrid transfer

Arsenal and Tottenham have been linked with a summer move for Real Madrid star Lucas Vazquez.

Both the Gunners and Spurs will be desperate to strengthen in the summer amid underwhelming campaigns, though more so in the case of Arsenal.

Mikel Arteta‘s men look set to miss out on European qualification ahead of next season, at least through the Premier League, and will need to vastly improve ahead of next season.

Meanwhile, Tottenham are still in the battle for Europe but have underperformed given the strength of their squad and the excitement that surrounded the club ahead of this season with the return of Gareth Bale.

Spurs also signed Sergio Reguilon from Real Madrid ahead of the current campaign, and they are already being linked with bringing another player from Los Blancos with Gareth Bale’s future unclear ahead of his loan spell coming to an end this summer.

According to AS, Spurs could make a move for the experienced Vazquez, who is out of contract this summer after spending his entire senior career so far at Real Madrid.

The 29-year-old, who is currently out with injury, is said to have rejected the offer of a new deal at Santiago Bernabeu, causing Spurs to come sniffing.

Though, Arsenal are also said to hold an interest in the winger with Arteta keen to add more creativity ahead of next season when Martin Odegaard could leave.

The report also claims Paris Saint-German could be interested in a move for the Spaniard, and the reigning Ligue 1 champions would likely be favourites ahead of the English duo.

Former Spurs boss Mauricio Pochettino is said to be a big fan of Vazquez’s and could make a move for him this summer, though Vazquez is available to negotiate a pre-contract agreement with any team outside Spain now.

Vazquez is liked at Real Madrid, particularly by current boss Zinedine Zidane, but it’s reported wages are a sticking point and that the winger could now seek a new challenge after 14 years, winning two La Liga titles and three Champions League winners’ medals among other aculades.
