Arsenal confirmed XI vs Sheffield United: Martinelli starts as Ceballos and Mari return to the team

Gabriel Martinelli comes in for his first start since January as Arsenal take on Sheffield United in the Premier League at Bramall Lane.

The Brazilian replaces his compatriot Willian who is relegated to the bench while Nicolas Pepe comes in on the right wing.

The change in the front line comes as the Gunners were hit with a lengthy list of late absentees for the match. Emile Smith Rowe was ruled out due to a sprained ankle while Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang has the flu and Martin Odegaard has not recovered from an ankle injury of his own in time to make the squad.

Calum Chambers and Pablo Mari also come into a much changed back four that sees Bukayo Saka also drop back into left back.

Cedric, Hector Bellerin and Gabriel are all rested presumably with Thursday night’s crucial Europa League quarter final second leg against Slavia Prague in mind.

There are also changes in midfield as Dani Ceballos comes in alongside Granit Xhaka and Thomas Partey.

This could see Mikel Arteta fielding his side in a 4-3-3 formation or it could mean that Dani Ceballos is in at number 10 where he has played in the past.

On the bench there is a place again for youngster Miguel Azeez, as fellow Hale End graduates Eddie Nketiah and Reiss Nelson make the squad.
