Arsenal are pushing ahead with their plans for the summer transfer window, with Edu and Mikel Arteta looking to continue with the rejuvenation of the side that began in January.
The Gunners waved goodbye to Mesut Ozil, Sokratis Papastathopoulos, Sead Kolasinac and Shkodran Mustafi in January, significantly reducing their weekly wage bill in the process.
Mid-season additions were few and far between, with young defender Omar Rekik the only permanent addition as Mat Ryan and Martin Odegaard joined on loan.
That is expected to change when the summer transfer window opens and Arsenal have reportedly identified an early target.
According to Mundo Deportivo, Arsenal are rivalling Barcelona in the market for the services of Sevilla winger Bryan Gil, who has caught the eye with his performances on loan with Eibar.
The 20-year-old has made 16 appearances in all competitions for Eibar, netting three goals and adding two assists to his name.
Gil has an affordable release clause of €35m but Arsenal face a race against time if they are to be able to bring the player to the Emirates Stadium.

Estadio Deportivo states Sevilla have reached an agreement with the youngster to extend his contract until 2025 and are aiming to significantly increase the clause in his deal.
The plan, led by Sevilla transfer supremo Monchi, is for Gil’s release clause to rise to a whopping €150m, a figure both Arsenal and Barcelona will likely see as ‘unattainable’.
While that figure is not finalised, it’s expected to be around that mark and it gives Arsenal a very slim window to land Gil before his price-tag flies through the roof.
