Arsenal fans noticed what Emile Smith Rowe did before Nicolas Pepe’s goal vs Slavia Prague

Emile Smith Rowe played a key role in Arsenal’s progression to the Europa League semi-final.

The Gunners went into the game against Slavia Prague on the back of a disappointing 1-1 draw in the first-leg last week.

Conceding a crucial away goal meant Arsenal had to score in the Czech Republic on Thursday night in order to have any chance of reaching the semi-final and keep their hopes of playing Champions League football next season alive.

And they scored four times without reply.

Three in the first-half as Nicolas Pepe, Alexandre Lacazette, and Bukayo Saka all got on the scoresheet to effectively wrap the game up before half-time.

Smith Rowe thought he had broken the deadlock when he followed up Saka’s effort that hit the post, but his goal was ruled out following a VAR check.

Although, that did not keep the attacking midfielder down for too long.

It was the attacking midfielder who claimed the assist for Pepe’s goal to make it 1-0 on the night as he evaded a couple of challenges to tee the ball up for the winger.

But what impressed some Arsenal fans on Reddit the most regarding the assist was Smith Rowe’s double nutmeg.

snowkarlSmith Rowe said: “No joke but he is a lot better than Odegaard for us at 10.

“His dribbling is so quick you seriously miss it sometimes and I’ve almost never seen a player as young as him consistently release the ball at the right time so often. Super intelligent player.”

“Absolutely love the kid.”
