Bukayo Saka netted Arsenal’s equaliser against Benfica, but most of the credit has landed on Martin Odegaard’s shoulders.
The Gunners fell behind in their Europa League round of 32 first-leg tie at the Stadio Olimpico when Pizzi scored from the penalty spot after Emile Smith Rowe was adjudged to have handled the ball inside the area.
However, Arsenal‘s response was swift as they scored what could be the all-important away goal.
A neat passing move resulted with Saka tapping home from close range after the ball was played across the face of goal by Cedric Soares – operating at left-back once again.
With that said, some eagle-eyed Gunners supporters noticed what happened before Saka scored.
Odegaard – on his second start in Arsenal colours after joining on loan from Real Madrid during the January transfer window – kept the move alive by playing the ball out to Cedric after regaining possession on the edge of the box.
Such was the perfect weight of pass that the Portugal international didn’t need to take a touch before teeing up Saka.
And Odegaard has been the toast of many Arsenal fans on social media for the ‘pre-assist’.
