Arsenal fans will love what Martin Odegaard has said about Gabriel Martinelli

Martin Odegaard has picked Gabriel Martinelli as the Arsenal younger to watch.

Odegaard has become a favourite at the Emirates Stadium since making the loan move from Real Madrid in January, impressing under Mikel Arteta.

The Norwegian’s form has led to calls for him to be signed permanently this summer with Gunners fans desperate to see him in an Arsenal shirt beyond this season.

Odegaard signing permanently, though, does not seem likely, so it’s a good job Arsenal have some exciting talent waiting in the wings.

And according to Odegaard, it’s young winger Martinelli fans ought to watch out for in seasons to come.

“Yeah. Obviously we have Bukayo [Saka] and Emile [Smith Rowe] and they are already playing so much,” Odegaard told the Premier League when asked about the Gunners’ next big thing.

“But I think one guy who hasn’t played is Gabi Martinelli.

“He’s such a big talent, you see him in training every day and you see it. He’s a really talented player with a lot of qualities, so I think definitely he’s one for the future. And he’s so young still, so I will go with him.

“Yeah definitely. As I said, he’s really young so he just has to keep working hard – as he’s doing every day in training.

“He will reach his goals because, from what I see every day in training, he’s a top, top talent.

“For him it’s just about continuing doing his work and then everything will come for him.”

Fans are already well aware of Martinelli’s talent with plenty of excitement surrounding the youngster since his move from Ituano in 2019.

It looked as though he would get an extended run in the side this season after he played in back-to-back games – wins over Chelsea and Brighton – when the Gunners began to turn things around following a disappointing start.

But he has still had to resort to few appearances since, leaving Gunners fans hungry to see more from the 19-year-old.
