Here is your Arsenal morning digest for Wednesday, July 21.
Locatelli bid confirmed
Arsenal have tabled a £34.5million bid for Sassuolo and Italy midfielder Manuel Locatelli.
That is according to the agent of Juventus midfielder Nicolo Fagioli, who has been heavily linked with being involved in a swap deal for Locatelli to complete a move to the Serie A heavyweights this summer.
Both Arsenal and Juventus have been heavily linked with the box-to-box midfielder in recent weeks, but Locatelli has always preferred a switch to Juventus, opposed to making the move to the Emirates Stadium.
However, the Gunners appear to be in a stronger position than Juventus right now in their attempt to get a deal over the line, with Andrea D’Amico – Fagiolo’s agent – confirming that Arsenal have tabled a big-money bid.
He told Sky Sports Italia: “Juventus would like to sign Locatelli and Arsenal have already offered €40million [£34.5m].
“But I can assure you that, as of today, Fagioli has not been included in the deal.
“Massimiliano Allegri [the Juventus manager] wants to see him in training to understand if he can be useful during the season.”
Gunners could land ‘their own Kante’
Although Locatelli is one central midfielder that Arsenal have their eye on, Brighton & Hove Albion star Yves Bissouma is another.
The Gunners, as first revealed by football.london back in January, are keen on the Mali international and he would welcome the prospect of joining the club if the opportunity presented itself.
Ever since first being linked with a move to north London, no shortage of Gunners supporters have felt that he would be the ideal partner for Thomas Partey at the base of the midfield.
And his statistics show that Arsenal’s supporters certainly have a case, with his numbers making for great viewing and ranking alongside N’Golo Kante of Chelsea.
His defensive actions put him in the same bracket as Kante, Manchester United captain Harry Maguire and West Ham United midfield ace Declan Rice.
Bissouma made 60 interceptions in the Premier League last season which is only two fewer than Kante’s tally of 62, one fewer than Maguire (61) and more than any Arsenal player.

Arteta issues glowing Tavares assessment
Manager Mikel Arteta believes that the club’s scouting department have done “brilliantly” to have identified Nuno Tavares as a player that can improve the Gunners.
Tavares became the club’s first signing of the summer transfer window just over a week ago, joining Arsenal in an £8million deal from Benfica.
He made his debut for the club during Saturday’s 2-2 draw against Rangers and made an immediate impact, scoring the Gunners’ first-half leveller.
“We wanted to have more strength and specific qualities in the left-back position, and we identified Nuno a while ago,” Arteta told Arsenal’s club website.
“To be fair to the scouting department, they have done brilliantly to identify a talent with the qualities that we required, at the age we required and financially it was something we can afford.
“The boy has already been pretty impressive. I think he is the right profile for what we are trying to build here.”
