Arsenal identify new centre back signing as Edu looks to South America for talent

Arsenal have offered a trial to Peruvian youngster Aron Sanchez.

The Peru Under-20 international plays for AD Cantolao in his country’s top division and is seen as a potential recruit for the Under-23s squad.

Sanchez was also named on the provisional list of players for Peru at the 2021 Copa America.

football.londonrevealed in April that Arsenal are looking at the South American market for potential new signings as they get to grips with the new Brexit regulations

New rules that came in after Brexit have made it harder for British clubs to sign foreign players from second tier European leagues.

It’s expected that players from Mexico, Brazil and Argentina will be easier to recruit and qualify for a Governing Body Endorsement (GBE).

A GBE will be easier to obtain for a fully-fledged international player, but others will have to accumulate 15 points or more, based on the quality of the league and competitions they are involved in.

Premier League and EFL clubs are not able to sign foreign players until they are 18, and they are also limited to signing no more than three players under the age of 21 in any single transfer window.

The summer window is officially open, and it’s going to be tough to keep up with the comings and goings in and out of the Emirates.

The Gunners have several centre backs at the club already, with football.london revealing that 20-year-old Zech Medley will join Belgian side Oostende in the coming days.

Other players include Harry Clarke and Mark McGuinness who are both likely to go out on loan next season.
