Arsenal are reportedly interested in signing Leeds winger Raphinha and have made an enquiry about the attacker. However, Mikel Arteta’s side will face fierce competition from Spanish giants Barcelona.

The Brazilian has been heavily linked with a move away from Elland Road after another impressive campaign for the Yorkshire club. Raphinha has scored nine Premier League goals in 27 appearances for the relegation-threatened side, and his scintillating performances have drawn admiring glances from some of Europe’s top clubs.

Barca are one such side, and reports suggest they have already agreed a five year contract with the 25-year-old. However, according to journalist Fabrizio Romano, Arsenal have also entered the race for his signature despite their interest in PSV Eindhoven winger Cody Gakpo.

“I can tell you that Arsenal also asked for information about Raphinha of Leeds. We were mentioning him for Barcelona,” he said on the Here We Go Podcast.

“Barcelona are leading the race for Raphinha. But also Arsenal asked for information for Raphinha, they are not leading the race. They are looking for that kind of player.

“So Gakpo is a player they are following, but also Raphinha is a player they like. But it’s really complicated because Barcelona are leading the race.”
