Here is your Arsenal morning digest on Friday, April 2.

Arteta issues Aguero stance

Mikel Arteta has downplayed a potential swoop for Sergio Aguero during the upcoming transfer window.

On the back of a history-making decade at Manchester City, the Argentine frontman is set to leave the Etihad this summer when his contract expires.

Arsenal’s head coach knows as well as anyone what Aguero brings to the party, having worked with him first-hand prior to arrival at the Emirates.

Speculation about the City striker’s next move is rife, but Arteta won’t be picking up the phone right away.

When pressed about a possible approach for Aguero during his latest pre-match press conference, he said: “No, no. We will see what happens with him in the future.”

Haaland move key for Arsenal?

The prospective summer transfer of Borussia Dortmund sensation Erling Haaland could provide a major boost to Arsenal’s own recruitment drive.

That’s according to The Times, who suggest Real Madrid would be willing to let Martin Odegaard – and five other high-profile players – leave the Bernabeu on a permanent basis in order to fund a move for Haaland.

With a nine-figure fee required to prize the Norway striker away from the Bundesliga, the La Liga giants are set to make the quintet available for transfer.

Amid reports of staggering £767million debts at the Bernabeu, the list comprises of Gareth Bale, Luka Jovic, Brahim Diaz and Spanish midfielder Dani Ceballos – who is currently with Odegaard at the Emirates.

Football.london understands the Norway captain is Arsenal’s top transfer target this summer, and that the player would be willing to extend his stay.

‘No fresh injury concerns’

Bukayo Saka and Emile Smith Rowe are unlikely to feature in Saturday night’s Premier League clash with Liverpool.

After been ruled out of the senior England squad last month, the talented Saka has done some fitness work at the club’s training base – but hasn’t yet joined in with the rest of the group.

Smith Rowe, meanwhile, endured a difficult time away with the Under-21s, picking up a hip injury as the Young Lions crashed out of the European championship group stage.

Despite those two set-backs, there are no fresh injury concerns ahead of the Liverpool clash.

Arteta said: “He [Saka] hasn’t trained with the team yet. He’s been doing some individual work. We had to pull him out of the [England] squad. He’s feeling better, but hasn’t trained with the team.”
