Arsenal prepare for Bukayo Saka transfer interest as Jack Wilshere responds to offer

Here is your football.london Arsenal morning digest on Wednesday, September 15.

Interest builds in Saka

He is seen as the player Arsenal will build their future around but interest from other clubs is starting to build in Bukayo Saka, according to Fabrizio Romano.

The Gunners, however, insist that Saka is untouchable.

Romano said on his Here We Go podcast: “Some clubs are starting to approach Bukayo Saka. Arsenal consider him untouchable. They are planning to build on players like Saka for the next years.”

It is likely that if the 20-year-old were to leave north London it would take an enormous fee, especially with Jack Grealish having been sold for £100million this summer.

Leno on his way out?

After Aaron Ramsdale’s impressive display during Arsenal’s 1-0 win against Norwich City, the 23-year-old is expected to retain his spot in Mikel Arteta’s starting XI.

This, however, has thrown the future of Bernd Leno into doubt. The Gunners had planned on Ramsdale being back-up to the German but the summer signing has reportedly progressed quicker than many at the club expected.

Work has therefore begun on plans to sell Leno in the 2022 summer transfer window, by which point he will only have a year remaining on his current deal.

A new back-up goalkeeper will then reportedly be found for Ramsdale.

Wilshere responds to Arteta’s offer

Former Arsenal midfielder Jack Wilshere has responded to an offer made by Mikel Arteta to train with the Gunners after his contract with Bournemouth expired in the summer.

“I really enjoyed playing with him [Arteta], sharing a dressing room with him and to hear him come out to say that the door is always open is nice,” Wilshere said.

“I think that it [training with Arsenal] can only help me. As you said, being around good players, training with world-class players and as well just being in a team environment is something that I’m interested in and I’m sure I’ll have a conversation with someone at the club over the next couple of days.”
