Arsenal to miss out on deal for Ian Wright’s dream signing amid talk of £6.1m Paul Pogba offer

Manchester United midfielder Paul Pogba could be heading back to Juventus this summer.

That’s if fresh reports coming out of Italy are to be believed.

Pogba returned to Old Trafford back in 2016 for a then-world record fee of £89.3million – four years after leaving for Juventus on a free transfer – but is now into the final months of his contract.

Despite The Telegraph claiming last month that the Frenchman would be willing to listen to offers from other Premier League clubs – thus giving Arsenal some hope – should he leave Man United, it’s looking likely that a return to Juve is on the cards.

According to Gazzetta, the Bianconeri are now in contact with Pogba’s agent Mino Raiola and have presented their plan to bring re-sign the 28-year-old in the summer transfer window.

A plan which as the report has revealed centers around Juve willing to offer the midfielder a salary worth €7.5million (£6.1million) plus bonuses to bring him back to the club ahead of the 2022/23 season.

Of course, with Pogba’s Man United contract set to expire in June, he won’t cost the Serie A giants a single penny if he was to be reunited with Max Allegri.

Should this deal go through, then Ian Wright won’t get his wish.

Amid the Gunners being linked to the likes of Youri Tielemans, Ruben Neves, Fabian Ruiz and Renato Sanches as manager Mikel Arteta looks to sign a central midfielder this summer, the club legend previously indicated that Pogba would be the perfect addition.

“Yes [Pogba is back to his best] he is and you know, with all the stuff that’s happened with him he’s getting it right on the pitch,” Wright said on Match of the Day last season as he highlighted how the 28-year-old improves others around him.

“He’s put it all to the side and to be honest he’s putting in good performances.

“He was unlucky there [not to score against Villa] but I thought with his ability he should have scored. Great touch, great play, great awareness, great skill. He’s getting everyone playing and that’s what he does.

“He was everywhere. He was in his own box, he was up there in their box, he was doing everything today.

“That’s what he can do with his creativity. You give him this much time when you have willing runners like Marcus Rashford….that is just fantastic.

“A super, super pass. I’d love to have someone like that.”

Whilst it’s clear that Wright is a big fan of Pogba and would love to see him in an Arsenal shirt, it’s looking likely that the Gunners are going to miss out on a deal for their former player’s dream signing.

Although the chances of the Frenchman agreeing to join the north London outfit has always been unlikely.
