Arsenal told the one advantage they have over Man United in battle for Champions League spot

Chris Sutton has claimed that Manchester United will finish ahead of Arsenal this season in the battle for fourth place.

West Ham United currently sit fourth in the Premier League table, above the Gunners on goal difference, with both teams five points ahead of United in eighth place.

The Red Devils host Mikel Arteta‘s side on Thursday night in a highly-anticipated clash that could help decide who finishes in the coveted Champions League spots come May.

The north Londoners clinched a 1-0 win at Old Trafford last season thanks to a second-half penalty from Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang and the away side will be hoping they can put in a similar performance this week to build some momentum, following their 2-0 victory over Newcastle United on Saturday afternoon.

Former Chelsea striker Sutton thinks the fact that Arsenal aren’t involved in any European competition this season is extremely helpful to their top-four challenge, but still claimed that they won’t finish above United come the end of the season.

Sutton wrote in his column for The Daily Mail: “I’m saying Manchester United will finish fourth.

“The fact that Arsenal don’t have Europe this season is a massive advantage for them. Mikel Arteta and his players have got no excuses — no Thursday night games in Baku to hide behind.

“They’re even on the verge of having Arsene Wenger back at the club, and he knows a thing or two about finishing fourth.

“But Ralf Rangnick is a super-manager, a visionary of the game, the godfather of gegenpressing, and I believe United are capable of sneaking into the Champions League places at the expense of fellow European hopefuls Arsenal and West Ham.”
