Arsenal told to go ‘all in’ for Martin Odegaard alternative in the summer transfer window

Arsenal should go ‘all in’ for Jack Grealish in the summer transfer window.

That is the view of Gunners legend Nigel Winterburn who has suggested an alternative for the number 10 position if the club are not successful in signing Martin Odegaard permanently.

The attacking midfielder’s loan move from Real Madrid is due to expire at the end of the season, and whilst football.london understands that further talks are planned, the final decision will ultimately be made by the La Liga giants.

Given just how well Odegaard is playing at the moment, his creativity would be a big miss for Arsenal if he heads back to Spain for the 2021/22 season.

However, Winterburn has a plan that most Gunners fans would agree with.

The former left-back is of the opinion that Grealish should be Arsenal’s main transfer priority and thinks the Aston Villa captain could be converted from a left-winger to playing behind the main striker.

“I’d like to see Arsenal go ‘all in’ and sign Jack Grealish,” Winterburn told GentingBet. “He is a terrific player.

“His ability speaks for itself and he’s the type of player that if we want to move forward then we should be looking to buy.

“He tends to prefer to play on the left-hand side so we’d need to see how that works with Arsenal’s current set up but I’m sure he could play in that Number 10 role as well.

“Lots is up in the air with Arsenal, they’re not sure if Odegaard will sign in the long term and that needs to be addressed beforehand.

“One thing is for sure, if Grealish does become available then a whole host of clubs will be in for him.”

To Winterburn’s point, a host of clubs would be interested in the attacking midfielder if Villa were to make the decision to cash in on him this summer.

However, any deal for the Aston Villa playmaker is likely to cost the Gunners a whopping £100m fee, according to the Telegraph.

With funds expected to be limited at Arsenal this summer, it may be worth the north London outfit focusing on Odegaard instead of Grealish unless they can generate £100m from somewhere.
