Arsenal vs AFC Wimbledon prediction: Gunners tipped to ease through to next round

Arsenal’s reaction from their thrashing defeat to Man City has been positive overall with plenty of room for improvement and will look for more of the same when they welcome AFC Wimbledon.

The Gunners are the heavy favourites at 1/14 with the League One side are 28/1 with Grosvenor Sport and a draw after 90 minutes is 9/1.

The Inside Track’s Tom Phillips is tipping Arsenal to win to nil with over 4.5 total goals at the Emirates Stadium tonight – another repeat of the West Brom match in the previous round for Mikel Arteta’s side.

With no European competitions on the fixture list for the Gunners, this is the perfect opportunity for the north London side to compete for a domestic trophy without worrying too much about fixture congestion.

They have a squad more than capable to do that and have proven that in the past in the FA Cup but they will need to improve more as the season progresses when they face more challenging opposition.

Team stats

Arsenal average 1.33 goals score per match but conceded 1.5 on average but this is largely thanks to the 5-0 defeat against Man City. Since then they have achieved back-to-back clean sheets.

In the League Cup, they put in a convincing performance away at West Brom winning 6-0 without really looking like they went beyond second gear.

AFC Wimbledon have reached the third round of the EFL for the first time in their history.

H2H

This will be the first time the sides have ever met.

However, Arsenal did meet Wimbledon 28 times of which the Gunners ran out winners 13 times, drawn eight and lost seven.

Form

Arsenal will be looking to find the same form that saw them thrash West Brom in the last round.

The visitors sit on 12 points in the play-off places of League One with three wins, three draws and two defeats.

The Dons have picked up two wins in their last three matches too.
