Here’s all the news from around the Emirates Stadium over the past 24 hours.
Kieran Tierney alternative revealed
The Scot has been the Gunners’ top chance creator from open play this season and speaking after the length of his layoff was confirmed, Arteta admitted his absence would necessitate a degree of adaptation in the way his side attack their opponents.
Neither though were able to replicate the aggressive attacking runs Tierney makes so effectively into the final third, where he offers such consistently dangerous delivery.
The man who was though was Nicolas Pepe.
The Ivorian has largely specialised on the right wing for Arsenal since his £72million transfer from Lille last season, but at times this season, he has excelled on the left.
Behind the scenes at Arsenal
Prior to the weekend’s game against Fulham, football.london‘s Chief Arsenal reporter Chris Wheatley gave his thoughts on some of the big talking points at the Emirates right now during a Q&A with fans on Friday where he was asked about Konstantinos Mavropanos and William Saliba’s futures.
Here is what he had to say about the central defenders.
“I’ve been talking up Mavropanos for a long time because I believe he will go on to become one of the best defenders in Europe. His performances for Stuttgart have been excellent this season and they are keen on extending for another year.
“From what I understand, it is more likely that he will extend his loan deal but a permanent departure can’t be ruled out either.
“That would mean Saliba will come back for pre-season and get another chance to impress the manager. He’s also impressed at Nice but Arteta and the coaching staff felt he was too raw and needed to improve on many aspects. It’s a case of let’s wait and see what happens with him.”
