Chelsea fans were left in awe of Edouard Mendy after he made an incredible double save in the Carabao Cup final against Liverpool.
The Premier League giants played out an entertaining first half at Wembley despite the score being 0-0 at the break, with both teams spurning significant chances in front of goal.
England international Mason Mount should have found the back of the net after Kai Havertz delivered a perfectly weighted through ball just before half-time but the Blues midfielder fired just wide.
Liverpool’s best chance came through Senegal attacker Sadio Mane, who saw his close-range effort denied by countryman Mendy in emphatic fashion, a save that went a long way in vindicating Thomas Tuchel’s decision to drop Kepa Arrizabalaga for the final.
Arrizabalaga had started five League Cup matches this term but the Spaniard was left on the bench for the clash against Jurgen Klopp and Co, giving Mendy the platform to showcase his undeniable talent.
Plenty of Chelsea supporters took to social media to claim that their goalkeeper is better than Alisson Becker, who was benched by Klopp for the Wembley showpiece. Here is what a select few on Twitter said.
