‘Blessing!’ – Chelsea fans say the same thing as they receive January boost amid manager bust-up

Some Chelsea supporters have been reacting to the news that Hakim Ziyech has not been chosen for the Morocco squad for next month’s Africa Cup of Nations.

The Moroccan attacker was reportedly previously involved in a furious bust-up with his country’s manager Vahid Halildohzic and has therefore been snubbed – handing the Blues a boost ahead of a hectic schedule of fixtures.

Ziyech missed all of his country’s World Cup qualifiers this year and has not represented his nation since a friendly against Burkina Faso over the summer.

Despite this perhaps being disappointing for the 28-year-old playmaker, it certainly hands Thomas Tuchel a welcome boost.

Chelsea are set to play six matches over January and will need to really test out their depth, especially due to the ongoing Covid-19 crisis among Premier League clubs.

Blues supporters, when taking to Twitter to react to the news, are delighted that Ziyech will be with the Chelsea squad throughout January.

Ziyech has made just 10 appearances in the Premier League so far this term – with only six of them being from the start for the Chelsea creative midfielder.

He has been in and out of the side under Tuchel since he was appointed at the start of the year, and when speaking in October, the Chelsea boss revealed what had cost him his place in the Blues team.

He said: “First of all, it’s maybe the same line again, he fought his way into the team, he was in the team at the beginning of the season because of performance.

“It was so obvious after pre-season and the matches in pre-season that he has to be on the pitch. To start from there he was on the pitch, then he scored and had the injury in the Super Cup game.

“From there I felt it cost him a lot because even until today I don’t feel he’s 100 per cent free in his shoulder.

“When we played him over 90 minutes, we started him several times after that, we started him in the Champions League, I felt that even if there is no pain, even if it is maybe his subconscious, there is something which limits him in his movements and his freedom to turn, accelerate and decelerate.

“He needs time and patience to fight his way back into the team, that is the way it is.

“Looking for a spot, while he was out, okay, some other guys performed, he is one of our players and we will never lose the trust and never lose patience with him, he will stay an important player I am sure.”
