Borussia Dortmund host Bayern Munich at Signal Iduna Park on Saturday as Der Klassiker returns to the Bundesliga menu this weekend. It’s the beginning of a big week for Bayern as on Wednesday they play host to Barcelona in the Champions League (check out all the Champions League action on Paramount+). Second welcomes first respectively with just a point between the two coming into this one with the defending champions marginally in front. Bayern won comfortably last time the two met but Marco Rose’s Dortmund have a great chance to make life difficult for Julian Nagelsmann’s side here.

Here is how you can watch the match and what to know:

Team news

Dortmund: Rose is hopeful on Manuel Akanji and Jude Bellingham’s fitness. Meanwhile, Erling Haaland has trained well all week but will “not be ready for 90 full minutes.”

Bayern: Marcel Sabitzer, Joshua Kimmich and Gabriel Vidovic are all out. Eric Maxim Choupo-Moting could feature if he tests negative for COVID-19 to end his quarantine. Josip Stanisic is also out while Nagelsmann rates Leon Goretzka’s chances at “60%.”

Storylines

Dortmund: BVB beat VfL Wolfsburg 3-1 last time out with Haaland remaining in impressive form and despite his recent unavailability he still has 10 goals to lead the team this season. Dortmund have taken a maximum 21 points at home this campaign with the same number of goals scored and just nine conceded. The current winning streak is 11 games and dates to April with only one loss in their last six league matches overall.

Bayern: The German giants beat Arminia Bielefeld last time out and boast 31 from a possible 39 points. Robert Lewandowski scored a hat-trick against his former club last time these two met with Bayern on a five-game winning streak which has seen them outscore Dortmund 17-4. The Poland international has scored 14 times already which is a Bundesliga best tally while Bayern have won four drawn one and lost one on the road this term.

Prediction

Nagelsmann’s side have looked less dominant of late and Borussia Monchengladbach and FC Augsburg’s success against Bayern this season will encourage Dortmund. Although it will not be enough to take top spot, BVB should be able to end their losing streak to the Bavarians here. Pick: Dortmund 2-2 Bayern.
