Chelsea fans are getting very excited about an injury update from Thiago Silva ahead of the return to Premier League action this weekend.
The veteran centre-back was one of the Blues’ best summer signings, joining on a free transfer from Paris-Saint Germain after eight years in the French capital.
Silva has added priceless experience and leadership to the Chelsea back-line, particularly at a time when skipper Cesar Azpilicueta was seeing much less game time under Frank Lampard.
Azpilicueta has since become a stalwart, and now the Blues defence could get even stronger with Silva preparing to return after weeks again.

Silva has been out since February 5 with a thigh injury that has seen him come close to returning but never quite managing it, now missing 30 days so far and seven games in all.
Fortunately, Chelsea have coped well in the Brazilian’s absence, conceding in only two of Thomas Tuchel’s 14 games so far.
Silva played in seven of those games, and interestingly, the two goals Chelsea have conceded under their new boss both came after Silva was ruled out with injury.
Even so, the Blues have been excellent defensively, and they will now get an even further boost with Silva providing an encouraging update on Instagram.

He wrote: “Happy to be back doing what I love!! May God bless our new beginnings,” along with a picture of him training at Cobham.

Silva’s return could provide Tuchel with an interesting selection dilemma with the veteran centre-back rivalling Azpilicueta, Antonio Rudiger, Andreas Christensen and Kurt Zouma for a spot in that three-man defence.
