It is all change at Spurs with Nuno Espirito Santo sacked from his managerial role following Saturday’s 3-0 defeat to Manchester United in north London.
Cristiano Ronaldo, Edinson Cavani and Marcus Rashford scored the goals and ultimately sealed the fate of Espirito Santo with Tottenham confirming their decision on Monday morning.
“I know how much Nuno and his coaching staff wanted to succeed and I regret that we have had to take this decision,” director iof football Fabio Paratici wrote in his statement on the club’s official website following the news.
“Nuno is a true gentleman and will always be welcome here. We should like to thank him and his coaching staff and wish them well for the future.”
It appears that the hunt for his successor will be far quicker than the previous search too with Antonio Conte looking very likely to step into the dugout.
football.london understands that Paratici and Daniel Levy are in advanced talks to finally get him in after a failed summer attempt and there is a growing confidence that the deal could be sealed as early as Monday evening, if not Tuesday.
Conte, of course, enjoyed plenty of success with Chelsea during his two seasons at Stamford Bridge, winning the Premier League title in 2016-17 and the FA Cup in 2017-18.
However, the Italian is a notoriously fiery and strong-willed character and plenty of Chelsea fans have predicted his relationship with the new Spurs hierarchy will end in disaster.
Here is how the Blues’ faithful have reacted to the news…

@AmirLakah said: “I am curious to watch the bones breaking with Daniel Levy when the going gets rough.”
