Inter Milan will be prepared to listen to offers for Chelsea target Romelu Lukaku if they can secure the services of Manchester City striker Sergio Aguero on a free transfer, according to reports.
Chelsea are said to be keen on sealing a Stamford Bridge return for Lukaku, who was sold by Jose Mourinho in 2014 after failing to hold down a regular spot in the side under the Portuguese manager.
Their interest was confirmed on Saturday by journalist Christian Falk, who revealed via Twitter that the Blues will turn their attention to Lukaku if they are unable to sign Borussia Dortmund star and top target Erling Haaland.
The Belgium international has been in fine form for Inter this season, scoring 19 goals and providing 17 assists to help Antonio Conte’s side stretch their lead at the top of Serie A to six points.
Il Nerazzurri are firmly on course to clinch their first Scudetto since 2010, with a large part of their success coming from Lukaku’s prolific campaign in front of goal.
However, they could be open to selling the 27-year-old in the summer despite his current role as a vital cog in the machine, according to the Daily Star.
The report claims that Inter will look to offload Lukaku or team-mate Lautaro Martinez if they can reinforce their attack with the signing of Aguero.
The City talisman is out of contract at the end of the campaign, and appears likely to finally call time on his ten-year spell with the club.
Inter, like the vast majority of elite football clubs, are in dire need of a financial boost amid the effects of the ongoing COVID-19 pandemic.
Club chiefs are aware that money can be made by cashing in on Lukaku or Martinez, who are both in high demand, and replacing them with the proven talents of Aguero for nothing.
Although Chelsea will undoubtedly be in the frame to land their former striker this summer, they could be forced into shelling out a club-record fee in order to secure his services.
The report also suggests that Inter would be hoping for a fee close to the £100million mark in exchange for Lukaku.
Whether or not the Blues will choose to match the demands of the Italian giants is another matter.

They will not be alone in their pursuit of the forward, who has also turned out for West Bromwich Albion, Everton and Manchester United over the course of his career.
Real Madrid and Barcelona are said to be keen admirers, while Paris Saint-Germain are also understood to be among the interested parties.
Chelsea could also face competition from the Premier League in the form of City, who will need to secure a top-class replacement for Aguero if he follows through with his expected departure.
