Jorginho sends determined message

Chelsea midfielder Jorginho has delivered a determined message on Instagram after the Blues left it late against Crystal Palace on Saturday.

Hakim Ziyech was the hero to solidify the Blues’ place inside the top four and narrow the gap on Liverpool to seven points ahead of a big week for the club.

Thomas Tuchel’s side are in action against Lille in the Champions League and Liverpool in the Carabao Cup final in the next seven days and Jorginho appears happy with their form heading into the games.

Taking to Instagram the midfielder wrote: “We never give up, proud of this team.”

Reason for Emerson failure emerges

Chelsea left-back Emerson has revealed he did not return from his loan spell at Lyon in January out of loyalty to director of football Juninho.

Tuchel was eager to bolster his left-back options by bringing the Italy international back from his spell in Ligue 1 but a compensation deal could not be agreed.

“I did not return to Chelsea because I promised Juninho that I would stay for a season. I am a man of my word. I like being in Lyon, I want to be here,” he said via Fabrizio Romano.

“For next season, hard to say because depends on the clubs but I’m happy here.”

Romelu Lukaku under the microscope

Chelsea striker Romelu Lukaku has found himself under the microscope after another absent display against Crystal Palace on Saturday, with Alan Shearer dissecting his performance on Match of the Day.

“One touch, other than the kick-off in the first-half. One,” he said of Lukaku’s display.

“There’s definitely not an understanding there of what he wants, what he needs. He’s actually stopped running at times because the ball is not coming in.

“There’s numerous examples of that today. I mean, seven touches in the game is absolutely incredible.”
