Thomas Tuchel could probably have done with a fairly routine press conference ahead of Chelsea’s Champions League quarter-final first leg against Porto. Unfortunately, that won’t be the case for the Blues head coach.
There will, without any doubt, be several questions posed to the German about the bust-up that took place between Antonio Rudiger and Kepa Arrizabalaga in training on Sunday. There may even be a question or two about Tammy Abraham’s position in the first-team squad.
Tuchel is experienced enough to know these issues will require considered answers. He will have to tread carefully as not to create any more drama.
As will the yet-to-be-named player that follows him – UEFA demand that a member of the Chelsea squad speaks to the media ahead of Champions League games.
We will have live coverage of the press conferences – which are due to begin at 1pm – and will have full transcripts on the football.london website of both this afternoon.
