Chelsea set new asking price to complete fifth summer transfer amid Marina Granovskaia decision

The race to sign Borussia Dortmund striker Erling Haaland is heating up.

And Chelsea are one of several clubs interested in signing the Norway international who is coming off a fine season for the Bundesliga outfit where he netted 41 goals in just 41 appearances across all competitions.

In truth, it would be in the Blues’ best financial interest to wait until next summer to push through a move as that is when the 20-year-old’s release clause of €75m (£64m) will kick in.

However, with Manchester United, Manchester City, Real Madrid, and Barcelona all linked with Haaland, there’s a chance that Dortmund will cash in on their prized asset during the summer transfer.

But only on one condition.

Reports in Italy claim that Dortmund have slapped a €175m (£149m) price-tag on Haaland’s head and would be powerless to prevent the wonderkid from leaving if their demands are met.

This represents a new price tag for Haaland.

As reported by ESPN FC at the end of March, it was said that a monstrous €180million (£153m) bid would be enough to tempt the Bundesliga side into selling Haaland this summer.

Whilst Dortmund may have lowered their demands by just £4m, it would suggest that there is hope for the likes of Chelsea if they’re able to raise funds to launch a bid.

However, the report states that Haaland has an agreement with Real Madrid who must now reach a deal with Dortmund.

The summer window is officially open and now the Blues can look to build on European glory and bolster the squad to push for Premier League supremacy.

As a result, Chelsea might have to act fast if they’re to make Haaland their fifth deal of the summer window following the exits of Fikayo Tomori, Victor Moses, Pierre Ekwah-Elimby and Danilo Pantic.

With that said, the Blues are reportedly interested in Villarreal striker Gerard Moreno as Fichajes have claimed that Marina Granovskaia has decided to look at alternatives to Haaland.

As per the report, Thomas Tuchel is a fan of the Spaniard and sees him as a ‘plan b’ should a deal not be attained for Haaland.
