Chelsea’s 25-man squad on opening day of the season if Marina Granovskaia completes 4 transfers

Chelsea have been linked to a manifold of players so far with the club expected to repeat the spending spree they had last summer.

The Blues went big by investing £200m+ in the squad by bringing in Timo Werner, Kai Havertz, Hakim Ziyech, Ben Chilwell, and Edouard Mendy.

The turn of fortune since Thomas Tuchel arrived in January has been nothing short of incredible with the recent successes, namely securing their second European Cup.

The victory will only drive owner Roman Abramovich to bid for more dominance for the west London side.

We look at how the 25-man Chelsea squad could look at the start of the season.

The first name on the potential suitors list is Erling Haaland, the Norwegian striker who is arguably the hottest property in world football right now. Despite Timo Werner’s strong end to the 2020/21 campaign, the 20-year-old would immediately force his way into Tuchel’s starting XI.

The forward is a marvel having netted 41 times in as many appearances for Borussia Dortmund last term, given that the Chelsea top-scorer was Jorginho with 7 goals all from the penalty spot, you can’t help but feel a signing of this calibre would push them up against Manchester City and Manchester United in the race for the Premier League title next season.

The cost for Haaland won’t be cheap and could cost almost the entire transfer budget if they pull it off. football.london understands that the Bundesliga club would command an eye-watering £150m for his signature.

The next major signing we could see come through the door is Moroccan full-back, Achraf Hakimi. The 22-year-old has been enduring a great deal of success across Europe the past few seasons including spells with Real Madrid, Borussia Dortmund, and Inter Milan.

Chelsea are heavily interested in the wing-back as he would fit the mould Tuchel implements on his side to a tee. Fast, energetic, and full of athleticism.

Right now, it seems PSG are leading the race for his signature with the Premier League side only interested in player swaps to land him and Inter Milan only interested in cash.

The final two signings Chelsea fans could expect to see shortly is Leicester duo James Maddison and Çağlar Söyüncü.

The east midlands club has been a happy hunting ground for incomings in recent years with the likes of N’Golo Kanté and Ben Chilwell enduring positive spells since joining.

Maddison who has been strongly linked with London rivals Arsenal in recent days is one Chelsea would be looking at to obtain should Ziyech seek pastures new just one year on after moving to England. It has been a turbulent year for the playmaker and an exit might be the easy option for the 28-year-old.

The summer window is officially open and now the Blues can look to build on European glory and bolster the squad to push for Premier League supremacy.

Lastly, Chelsea may continue their Leicester City shopping spree by splurging out £40m on Turkish international Caglar Söyüncü.

The defender has been linked to a move to west London with Andreas Christensen being linked away from the club. The Danish defender has reportedly been offered to Inter Milan as part of a swap deal for the aforementioned Hakimi.

Many players are also set to leave the club with Fikayo Tomori already moving to AC Milan, Victor Moses joining Spartak Moscow, and others are expected to follow suit. Emerson Palmieri and Marcos Alonso are both rumoured to depart Stamford Bridge also, while Tammy Abraham, lacking in game time under Tuchel, could depart, particularly if Chelsea sign Haaland and limit his opportunities even further.

Here is how the 25-man squad could look at the start of the season:

Goalkeepers: Kepa Arrizabalaga, Edouard Mendy.

Defenders: Antonio Rüdiger, Thiago Silva, Kurt Zouma, César Azpilicueta, Çağlar Söyüncü, Reece James*, Ben Chilwell*, Achraf Hakimi, Andreas Christensen*.

Midfielders: N’Golo Kanté, Mateo Kovačić, Jorginho, Mason Mount*, James Maddison*, Hakim Ziyech.

Forwards: Erling Haaland, Kai Havertz, Christian Pulisic, Timo Werner, Olivier Giroud.

*denotes homegrown players. The likes of Billy Gilmour and Callum Hudson-Odoi would remain on the U21 list due to their age, as would Tino Livramento, Conor Gallagher and Xavie Mbuyamba.
