The striker only made two appearances in a Blues jersey since mid-February and was left out of the squad for the FA Cup and Champions League finals.
As a result of being frozen out of the first team set up, the 23-year-old has been linked to an exit from west London this summer with a host of Premier League clubs interested in signing Chelsea’s top scorer from the 2019/20 season.
And with all this speculation surrounding the Englishman this summer, former striker Carlton Cole has given some much-needed advice to the young forward.
‘You get to a point where you have got to know your worth,’ Cole told talkSPORT.
‘He has gone on loan and done really well at Aston Villa, Swansea and came back to Chelsea and done well. They still don’t value him the way they should do and the way he feels he should be valued.
‘He didn’t play at the backend of last season and he is not in Thomas Tuchel’s plans obviously because he didn’t play.
‘Tuchel doesn’t fancy him and I would look at other options if I were him and say, ”let me go and be the main man somewhere”.’
With the west Londoners on the hunt for a new goalscorer to join Tuchel’s Champions League-winning squad next season, game-time opportunities for the 23-year-old will most likely be scarce looking ahead to the 2021/22 campaign.
Missing out on England’s Euro 2020 squad was bad enough for Abraham, but staying at Chelsea for another year could hamper the forward’s chances of making a real statement of intent when it comes to staking his claim to make it into the Three Lions squad for the upcoming Qatar 2020 World Cup.
Despite struggling for appearances last term, Abraham contributed a total of 18 combined goals and assists in all competitions.
The 23-year-old’s last goal for the club as it stands came all the way back in February, in Chelsea’s tight 1-0 win over Barnsley in the fifth round of the FA Cup.
The summer window is officially open and now the Blues can look to build on European glory and bolster the squad to push for Premier League supremacy.
