Christian Pulisic has expressed his delight at Chelsea’s decision to re-sign Romelu Lukaku this summer.

The 28-year-old became the club’s record signing on Thursday after signing for £97.5million from Serie A giants Inter Milan.

Thomas Tuchel identified the striker position as one that needed strengthening earlier in the window after agreeing to sell Olivier Giroud to AC Milan, whilst also deeming Tammy Abraham – who is close to a move to Roma – surplus to requirements.

Few can argue with the fact that Chelsea look a much better side with Lukaku in it, and Pulisic has expressed how excited he is to play alongside him in the Blues’ forward line.

“Lukaku is a great striker,” he told Chelsea’s official website.

“He plays really good with his back to goal, holding the ball, and he’s a great goalscorer, so I’m very excited to play with him. It’s going to be exciting times.”

And because the club are adding such a huge name to an already talented side, Pulisic thinks that they have a good enough squad depth to challenge for titles this season.

“We have a very good team with a lot of depth and it’s a really exciting team,” he added. “When you have a bunch of good players it’s never a bad thing so we’re really excited to see how this year goes.”

Lukaku could be handed his second Chelsea debut against Arsenal on August 22.
