Christian Pulisic transfer trick can help Marina Granovskaia solve Thomas Tuchel’s £85m dilemma – Jake Stokes

Marina Granovskaia could lean on Christian Pulisic ahead of the January transfer window to help solve Chelsea’s growing dependency on suitable squad depth.

Thomas Tuchel has struggled to weather the latest Covid storm that has struck, leaving the west London side with depleted options.

A dark cloud placed itself over Stamford Bridge and the heavens opened, however, while rain usually offers plants the ingredients to grow, the flooding of unforeseen circumstances has unearthed Chelsea’s harrowing gulf in Premier League-winning credentials compared to Manchester City and Liverpool.

With the winter window just around the corner, the Blues may have just found the solution that can help manage the absences of high-profile starters while also warranting a £58 million deal that is beginning to veer off track.

Out of favour Barcelona defender, Sergiño Dest has been subject to interest from Chelsea, who of which have the view of welcoming the 21-year-old in the summer, according to Catalan newspaper Sport.

The full-back, who’s Pulisic’s United States national team teammate, has lost the trust of new boss Xavi, according to Spanish outlet El Nacional.

Dest has struggled with injuries since Xavi took the helm at Camp Nou and, coincidentally or not, the Spanish side are preparing the January arrival of Dani Alves for the second time.

El Nacional claims that Xavi prefers Sergi Roberto, Ronald Araújo or Oscar Mingueza over the American at right-back, forecasting Dest’s future when reading between the lines.

While the young defender, who’s valued at £27 million by Transfermarkt, hasn’t enjoyed his best form of late, Dest is a very capable operator on either flank and could be the answer to Tuchel’s wing-back problem.

Reece James has cemented himself as Chelsea’s starting right wing-back and so has Ben Chilwell, however, the latter’s injury has confirmed the Blues reliance on either.

By urging Pulisic to lure Dest to Chelsea, the Barcelona defender could offer suitable cover at both left and right wing-back, relieving Tuchel of Marcos Alonso’s services.

The Blues’ £58 million signing from Dortmund, who has struggled for form lately, could also find himself revitalised with Dest by his side.
