Crystal Palace player ratings: Rak-Sakyi and Riedewald impress, Tomkins sloppy in Charlton draw

Jack Butland: Alert to come out and clear early on. Was beaten by a looping header but saw Tomkins head off the line. Simple stop from a long-range effort. Could not do much about Charlton’s bundled equaliser. Decent punch to clear a free-kick early in the second half was his only involvement before being replaced after an hour. 6

Martin Kelly: A slip that almost let Charlton in early on. Solid thereafter from a defensive point of view but slightly limited in his attempts to work it forward. 5

Marc Guehi: Comfortable on the ball with a nice weight of pass when looking to Riedewald on the wing. Had his own sloppy moment that gave the visitors a chance to attack in the first half. Generally kept it simple in the second half. 6

James Tomkins: Passing let him down a little. Tried to play around the Charlton press, but failed early on. Spared his own blushes by clearing a header off the line moments later. Sloppy start to the second half, giving away possession in a dangerous area. Decent effort at the other end, forcing a good save with a low shot. 4

Jairo Riedewald: Looked comfortable in his role on the left of defence, pushing up high and getting into plenty of space. Some nice passing play with Banks. Moved into midfield after an hour and was far more at home, forcing the issue and playing a part in the second goal. 7

Cheikhou Kouyate: Looked to keep it simple in the middle under pressure but struggled a little to turn and look up-field. Picked up a knock that required some attention, but was back on after a little while. Moved to centre-back after the hour mark. Was unlucky to see an attempted clearance loop up for Davidson to equalise for the visitors. 5

Jack Wells-Morrison: Looked to combine well with Rak-Sakyi in an advanced role on the right side of central midfield. Did not have as much influence as he may have wanted in the opening 45 minutes, but good in possession. Held the ball well in the second half, handing off to Rak-Sakyi to drive at the left-back. Brought off after an hour. 6

Malachi Boateng: Fleet feet helped him get out from a tight situation nicely. Positive on the ball, looking to turn and move up the pitch. Flashed a shot wide with the outside of his right foot. A dodgy pass put Palace under pressure. Settled in the second half. 6

Jesurun Rak-Sakyi: Adventurous in the opening minutes, causing problems down the right side. Rewarded greatly for his hunger and desire by blocking a keeper clearance into the goal for the opener. Surged at his marker in the second half, flashing the ball across goal to get fans off their seats. Scuffed a shot across goal after running through – an unfortunate moment that gave him a touch of cramp and led to his substitution. 7

Jordan Ayew: Made a couple of good runs but the passes weren’t quite on. Showed a nice turn to send a couple of defenders the wrong way before finding a teammate in the box before a blocked shot. Twisted and turned late on to create an opening but his low shot was straight down the middle. A little more involved in the second half, using his nous to win a couple of free-kicks before being brought off on the hour mark. 6

Scott Banks: Lively on the left while trying to create a relationship with Riedewald. Nice combination with Riedewald and Ayew at the half-hour mark looked to get the striker in down the left but it was good covering from Charlton. Curled a decent attempt over from 25 yards. Capitalised on his one real chance, slotting home from just inside the area, high past the keeper. 7

Subs

Vicente Guaita: Made a simple claim from a cross. Could do nothing about the volleyed equaliser. No save to make other than that. 5

Tyrick Mitchell: A little quiet, but did not do anything particularly wrong in his time on the pitch. 5

James McArthur: Brought some calm to the midfield with Palace building from the back. Used his experience to win the ball in decent positions. 6

Jeff Schlupp: Immediately made an impact, turning and running at the defence. Delayed a pass to Rak-Sakyi slightly too long. 6

Jean-Philippe Mateta: Just unable to convert when sliding in on Rak-Sakyi’s shot. Slid in Banks nicely for Palace’s second. 6

Rob Street: Almost earned a penalty straight away but saw his claim waved away when going down under contact. Nice header to Riedewald for the second. 6

Nathaniel Clyne: A fairly uneventful appearance, trying to contain the visitors on his flank. 5

Jaroslaw Jach: Made a decent headed clearance under pressure, but also gave the ball away when being pressed. 5

John-Kimanyi Gordon: Had a chance straight away when volleying after a free-kick was half-cleared, but got it all wrong. Pinned a little too much when receiving the ball. 5

Nya Kirby: Not too involved after coming on. 5
