David Luiz has opened up on his time at Stamford Bridge, where the Brazilian managed to achieve plenty of success honours wise.
The central defender has been criticised by some fans due to some defensive errors over the years, but what cannot be taken away from Luiz is his ability to produce impressive performances when it matters, with his Champions League final display for Chelsea against Bayern Munich in 2012 a clear example to illustrate this.
Luiz played the full 90 minutes and the entirety of extra time, before rifling a penalty into the top corner in the Blues’ shootout win.
But to the shock of many, Luiz is quoted as saying that he wasn’t in the best shape to start the game.
“I perhaps should not have played,” he said, speaking to the Daily Mail.
“But some special people encouraged me to take that step, to play even though I was not fit. They told me not to be scared. There was big pressure after that.”
“Roman Abramovich spoke to me on the day of the game and asked, “How is your leg?”
