David Moyes has praised Jarrod Bowen’s recent form after the attacker got the Hammers’ second winner in as many games with a long-range effort against Watford.

Bowen’s deflected strike followed his last-minute goal against Kidderminster Harriers to secure FA Cup progress on Saturday and Moyes is delighted with the England hopeful’s form.

Yesterday’s winner was Bowen’s sixth goal in his last six games and made it 21 goal contributions this season, more than any other English player in the Premier League.

With Michail Antonio managing only two goals in his past 17 matches, Moyes has been relying on Bowen to step up.

“I think Jarrod is the one that’s standing up at the moment,” Moyes told WHUTV.

“In the early part of the season it was Michail Antonio getting the goals and they were coming easy for him. Even Said Benrahma, his levels earlier in the season saw him getting some goals. But Jarrod is the one who is stepping up at the moment, and we’ve been needing him.”

Moyes was not the only one to praise Bowner with teammate Vladimir Coufal taking to social media to add his thoughts on the 25-year-old.

“On fire again,” Coufal wrote on Instagram underneath Bowen’s message to fans.

“Tough game but happy with the win and goal,” Bowen had posted.

Bowen’s form has seen calls for him to receive an England call-up grow. Gareth Southgate’s next Three Lions squad will be announced in March for the friendly matches against Switzerland and Ivory Coast.

Moyes has highlighted the stiff competition Bowen faces for a place in Soughtate’s squad but if the Hammer continues his fine form, international recognition could be on the horizon shortly.
