Declan Rice has joined manager David Moyes and Tomas Soucek on the nominations list for the Premier League end of season awards.
West Ham’s vice-captain has been shortlisted for the Hublot Young Player of the Year award following his role in leading the Hammers to a top-six finish.
Rice was instrumental alongside Soucek at the heart of West Ham’s midfield as the team secured European football for next season and a record Premier League points tally of 65.
The Hammers racked up a number of club Premier League records this season, securing the highest number of home and away wins and the best goal difference across a full campaign.
Rice missed a number of games for the Hammers as the season drew to an end after picking up a knee injury while on international duty with England.
Hammers boss Moyes believes that were it not for the absence of Rice his team could have secured a top-four spot and Champions League football in the process such has been the influence of the 22-year-old on his team.
During Rice’s spell on the sidelines, West Ham lost three out of six matches including the vital defeats to Newcastle, Chelsea and Everton.
Upon his return to fitness, the Hammers secured seven points from the final three games of the season and finished in sixth place ahead of seventh-placed London rivals Tottenham for the first time in 13 years.
The Hammers also ended a 35-year wait to finish above Arsenal in the league table with the Gunners only managing an eighth-place spot, the first time West Ham have ended a campaign above their rivals since the 1985-86 First Division season.
