Erik Lamela eyed by Serie A giants as Harry Kane sends message to Daniel Levy over Spurs exit

Here are your Tottenham morning headlines for Friday, May 21.

Lamela linked with Napoli

Napoli are said to be eyeing Erik Lamela ahead of this summer.

Lamela has just one year remaining on his contract from this summer, and that could force Spurs to sell him, if they are not going to give him a new deal.

With that in mind, reports suggest Italy is the most likely destination, and Corriere Dello Sport report Napoli could be a possible destination.

That’s because Lorenzo Insigne could be on his way out of Naples this summer, though Tottenham will likely want more than half of the near £30million they paid for Lamela in 2013.

Kane opens up on future

Harry Kane has admitted that he will have a conversation with Tottenham Hotspur about his future.

“I think so. I think it’s definitely a conversation to be had with the club,” he said in the interview conducted during a round of golf with Gary Neville last week. “Yeah, like you say, I want to be playing in the biggest games. The biggest moments.

“Like, this season I’m there watching the Champions League, watching the English teams in there doing amazing. They are the games that I want to be involved in.

“I want to be in them games. So for sure, it’s a moment in my career where I have to kind of reflect and see where I’m at and have a good, honest conversation with the chairman. I hope that we can have that conversation.

“I’m sure that he’ll want to set out the plan of where he sees it but ultimately it’s going to be down to me and how I feel and what’s going to be the best for me and my career this moment in time.”

On Levy, Kane added: “He’s been great with me if I’m totally honest. I mean, he’s always rewarded me with contracts. Like obviously I signed maybe a four or five-year deal when I was 21 but I’ve done well so he’s added to that. He’s been great with me.

“He’s been fair with me. He’s never kind of just held me on to a contract and said ‘No, I’ve paid you that. You’re going to stay on that’.

“So, we’ve always had a good relationship, but yeah, I’m not sure how that conversation will go if I’m honest, but you know what it’s like as players you don’t know what the chairman is thinking.

Shearer’s advice

Former Newcastle United and England striker Alan Shearer believes Harry Kane would be “guaranteed” success if he swapped Tottenham Hotspur for Manchester City this summer.

When asked on BBC Sport’s Match of the Day if that would be Kane’s farewell appearance at the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium, Shearer said: “Yes. I don’t think any Tottenham fan could hold it against him.

“He’s given absolutely everything for that football club and for all we know, he might have asked to leave last summer and they’ve persuaded him to stay one more year.
