Every word Scott Parker said on Leeds’ best quality, drastic opinions and Ademola Lookman miss

First back to back defeats since January, and you’ve missed the chance to climb out of the bottom three…

I’m disappointed. I didn’t think we deserved anything out of the game. The better team won. We struggled at times. The one thing you don’t want against Leeds is the game becoming a bit of a basketball match. The pressure they put you under, you need to make good decisions, we struggled a bit in those moments. We did get ourselves to 1-1 at half time and looked a threat at set plays.

Second half, obviously goals change games and we missed a massive chance to put ourselves in front at 2-1 and within 30 seconds we’re picking the ball out of the net and 2-1 down.

There’s not many times this year that after a defeat or a draw I’ve felt we didn’t deserve more from a game but tonight, we need to improve. We struggled for large parts tonight and didn’t deserve anything.

Mesasge to the team at half time and how big was Ademola Lookman’s miss?

I know it’s difficult, and at times it is easier said than done when that pressure comes and to stay cool and to stay calm and make good decisions is easier said than done. I brought Mitrovic on to give us that outlet, to give us a platform to then try and run off thei rman to man system which they have. and it works very well.

We understand you need to put the ball in the back of the net and we’ve fallen short. It was a big moment but I don;t think it was the sole reason why we didn’t get a result tonight.

How much are you going to have to draw on your own experience now, with Newcastle and Brighton having two games in hand?

I’ve had to draw on my experience the whole year. I have to draw on my experiences and understand and get that message across to the players. We’ve given ourselves a really good chance and we still have a massive chance. Never get to high when you’re winning games and the same when you lose.

At the same time, performance like tonight I understand you need to improve and get better. Eight games left now, we need to learn from tonight be honest with ourselves and understand where we’ve fallen short.

Normally one of Fulham’s strength is the structure, were you disappointed how your players were sucked into Leeds’ approach?

I was disappointed with that. Leeds are probably the best in the league at making the game very erratic, very quick, fast, end to end and making you make decisions and making you play similar to them. That was the main factor here.

We wanted to get some control with the ball, but never really got a foothold in the game. That’s probably credit to Leeds, it’s not just us that’s seen that.

That’s why I tried to change at half time, to go a different route and =if the goal goes in maybe it’s a difference story, one off the line. We didn’t deserve anything.

Going into the international break, is that a good time after tonight?

We’d rather have won tonight and taken momentum into the break. On the flip side we come out of a bad result and performance and there’s time to reflect and work. The calendar is we sit here now, and we’d rather have won but I see the positives we now have some time to work and get our heads down and regroup to go again.

Do you feel the momentum has shifted and how do you get it back?

It was only two games ago we won at Anfield and everyone was speaking so highly and the performance was there and the team were playing very well. We’ve lost a game against the chamoions of this season in Manchester City, put in a very good performance at half time.

I get the importance of tonight’s game, and the world we’re in is very drastic. You lose a game and it’s the worst in the world, you’re a failure and you’re getting relegated. You win at Anfield and your team are amazing and you’re staying up quite easily.

I need to be rational in my thinking and it’s never as drastic as the noise from outside but of course we realise the importance of the game tonight and we all realise the importance of the eight coming up.

Rational, calm, but also understand we’re getting to the part of the season where we’re either going to fail or be successful this year. A performance like tonight is not going to be what is needed.

How is Josh Onomah?

He picke up an injury in training. It’s a minor problem, hopefully he’ll be back after the international break.
