Arsenal will be looking to return to winning ways in the Premier League tonight.
The Gunners are back in action 13 days after coming from 3-0 down to earn a point against West Ham United as they take on a Liverpool side who have won their last three away games across all competitions.
It finished 3-1 to the Reds in the reverse meeting earlier in the campaign, but Arsenal did come from behind to win the corresponding fixture last season thanks to goals from Alexandre Lacazette and Reiss Nelson.
Furthermore, the north London outfit have tasted victory over Liverpool twice this term – albeit on penalties in the Community Shield and Carabao Cup – and as expected, manager Mikel Arteta is hoping for all three points this time around.
“Absolutely. To get the moral right, to get the confidence right, to get some momentum right,” Arteta said in his pre-match press conference. “The more games that we win, the team is going to be in a better state to compete in other competitions.
“That’s why my only focus is on Liverpool now.”
The former did not link up with the senior England squad for their triple World Cup qualification header during the international break, while the latter missed the U21’s final European Championship group stage game with a knock.
Although, Saka was spotted in training yesterday which would suggest he is in contention to feature against Liverpool.
With that said, in an update on Arsenal.com, it has been revealed that Smith Rowe is being assessed ahead of kick-off, as is midfielder Granit Xhaka who missed the final training session as he was unwell.
As a result, the one Arsenal player who will certainly miss the game is defender David Luiz because of a knee injury.
The summer transfer window is just around the corner.
And the rumour mill is already starting to pick up speed.
Arsenal will not have a huge amount of money to spend, but Mikel Arteta will be hoping to make a number of moves, with loanee Martin Odegaard high up the list of priorities to bring in on a permanent deal.

With that in mind, Arteta has no shortage of options as he will have a near full-strength squad to choose from with no other fresh injury concerns.
