Chelsea have confirmed their full 23-man squad for the round of 16 tie with Atletico Madrid in Bucharest on Tuesday.
Thomas Tuchel will not be able to call on the services of veteran defender Thiago Silva. The centre back has missed the last four games with a thigh injury but was back in training last week.
However he has not recovered from the problem and will not make the flight to Bucharest on Monday afternoon with the rest of the team.
Two players who will be making the trip to eastern Europe for what is Atletico’s “home” game are Christain Pulisic and Kai Havertz.
The duo missed out against Southampton for the Premier League draw. Havertz has also been in training for the last few days but wasn’t considered ready while Pulisic was ruled out with a slight calf problem sustained in training.
The American international was not risked in training on Friday as Tuchel confirmed last week but has been deemed fit enough to make the trip to Bucharest.
Below is the confirmed 23-man squad that Tuchel will be taking to Bucharest for the game, which kicks off at 8pm on Tuesday.
Kepa Arrizabalaga, Antonio Rudiger, Marcos Alonso, Andreas Christensen, Jorginho, N’Golo Kante, Tammy Abraham, Christian Pulisic, Timo Werner, Willy Caballero, Kurt Zouma, Edouard Mendy, Mateo Kovacic, Olivier Giroud, Mason Mount, Callum Hudson-Odoi, Ben Chilwell, Hakim Ziyech, Billy Gilmour, Reece James, Cesar Azpilicueta, Kai Havertz, Emerson Palmieri.
Atletico Madrid have Kieran Trippier out suspended for Tuesday’s match while Jose Gimenez, Yannick Carrasco and Hector Herrera have all been ruled out through injury for Diego Simeone’s side.
Blues head coach Thomas Tuchel has faced the media ahead of the game earlier on Tuesday afternoon and said of the upcoming game: “It’s a big test.
“They are an experienced club at his level, an experienced coach. Hopefully it brings out the best in us.
“We will do things our way, they will do things there way. It’s clear what you get when you play Atletico: fighting, experience, a team with a good mentality.”
