Some Arsenal fans have stepped into Mikel Arteta’s shoes ahead of Sunday’s Premier League game against Leicester City.
The Gunners head to the King Power Stadium on the back of a 3-2 win over Benfica on Thursday evening, a result that has set up a Europa League round of 16 tie against Olympiacos.
But until then, Arsenal have two equally important games – starting with Leicester – to climb the Premier League table and remain in contention to finish in the European spots come May.
With that said, the Spaniard has hinted at resting Bukayo Saka.
No Arsenal outfield player has played more minutes for Arteta’s side this season, and the Arsenal head coach has himself admitted that level of playing time simply cannot continue.
The 19-year-old inspired the Gunners to victory over Benfica with two assists for Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang, but there is every chance he will not start at the King Power.
“He’s really fatigued. He’s played a lot of minutes. He hasn’t had much rest,” said the Spaniard.
“We asked him to go again and produce these moments and the boy’s done it against a really difficult formation, the way were so deep with the really small spaces, but he’s found a way to do it again.”
If Saka is rested against the Foxes, who should take his place in the XI has been a topic of discussion amongst some Arsenal fans on Reddit.
mindebrisAubameyang joked that Reiss Nelson should get the nod in what would be a surprise given the winger hasn’t made an Arsenal first-team matchday squad since the FA Cup third-round win over Newcastle United at the beginning of last month.

But the general consensus is that fans are keen for Gabriel Martinelli to get a rare start.
