Gianfranco Zola has told Thomas Tuchel where he believes Kai Havertz’s best position at Chelsea is.
Havertz scored the only goal of the Blues’ 1-0 Champions League final victory over Manchester City on Saturday evening, with the Germany international playing on the right of a front trio.
After signing for huge money from Bayer Leverkusen last summer, the 21-year-old has played in various positions in the attacking line, including as a ‘false nine’.
“Nobody has ever doubted his quality, in terms of intelligence, class, technique,” the Italian said to talkSPORT.
“We thought he wasn’t finding the right position on the pitch and probably not affecting the game as much as we thought he could. The other day he proved everybody wrong.
“He performed so well for the team and also this position, centre and on the right, I think it suits him and Chelsea very much.”
Plenty has been said about Havertz’s £70million price tag after he arrived at Stamford Bridge and after a slow start, the question marks did not go away.
However, when speaking to BT Sport immediately after the Champions League final win, he did not care one bit.
“I don’t know what to say, I really don’t know what to say,” the former Leverkusen star said.

“I waited a long time, I just want to thank my family, my parents, my brother, my sister, my grandmother, my girlfriend. I don’t know what to say.
“We deserved it, now we celebrate.”
He added: “To be honest, right now, I don’t give a [explicit] about that [being the most expensive player],” Havertz said.
“We won the [explicit] Champions League and we’re celebrating right now.”
