Here is your Arsenal morning digest on Saturday, July 31.
Xhaka to be offered new deal
Granit Xhaka has looked sure to be signing for AS Roma throughout the summer transfer window.
However, he could now be set for an even longer Arsenal stay with The Athletic reporting that due to the failure of finding an agreement with the Italian giants, he could be offered a new contract at the Emirates Stadium.
As it stands, the Swiss midfielder has just two years remaining on his current deal and it is suggested that the offer of a renewed deal could see his price rise next summer if the Gunners are still intent on selling him.

Odegaard asking price named
The Gunners have meanwhile been told that it is going to take €50million (£43m) for them to sign Real Madrid midfielder Martin Odegaard on a permanent deal.
That is according to ESPN who suggest that the Norwegian has an ‘important’ future with Los Blancos and that they do not want to sell him this summer.
Mikel Arteta is still searching for a creative midfielder heading into next season and have also been linked with a move for Leicester City’s James Maddison.

Martinez gives preference
Having been rumoured to have lodged an enquiry for Inter Milan forward Lautaro Martinez, it now appears unlikely that Arsenal will be able to sign the Argentine.
According to Sportmediaset journalist Marco Barzaghi, he is only interested in a move to Spain, specifically Real Madrid, Barcelona or Atletico Madrid.
