Hakim Ziyech sends warning to Chelsea’s rivals after scoring winner to defeat Manchester City

Hamik Ziyecyh has told Chelsea fans they haven’t seen the best of him just yet.

The midfielder had his biggest moment in a Chelsea shirt on Saturday evening since his summer move from Ajax, turning home Timo Werner‘s cross to send his side to the FA Cup final.

The Blues pulled off a 1-0 win over Manchester City at Wembley Stadium, Thomas Tuchel’s men producing a thorough display to keep the Premier League leaders at bay.

Ziyech impressed during the win, picking up the BBC’s man of the match award after scoring and looking dangerous throughout what was a memorable afternoon for Chelsea.

And after the game, the £34.6million signing warned the Blues have not seen the best of him just yet.

Asked by the BBC whether he is now at his top level after a slow start due to a lack of football heading into this summer, Ziyech replied: “Not yet, not yet. I still have a lot to work on but I think I’m in a good way.”

Speaking about the win, he added: “Everyone is happy, we did a good job, especially in the first half. The second half was difficult but in the end, we scored the one goal we needed and it was enough.”

And on his goal, Ziyech said: “Of course you always have to have that feeling before the game, that you want to score and I think Timo [Werner] did good stuff in the space and he saw my run. It was a good delivery and I put it in easily.

Ziyech got off to a slow start this season, but that might have been expected given he had fitness issues heading into the season after the Eredivisie was curtailed last season due to coronavorus.

But he has now racked up 30 appearances in a Chelsea shirt, scoring five and assisting four to date.
