Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang had an outing to forget as Arsenal drew 2-2 with Rangers on Saturday afternoon.
The Gunners captain will be hopeful of a better 2021/22 campaign after a rather indifferent 2020/21 season in which he only managed 15 goals in 39 appearances across all competitions.
Although, he will have to brush up on his finishing if he’s to be in next season’s Golden Boot race.
Against Rangers, Aubameyang missed as many as three big chances to get on the scoresheet as he fired over the bar from close range, should have done better with Cedric Soares’ cross before somehow seeing an effort blocked by a defender on the goalline.
Speaking after the draw at Ibrox, Arsenal manager Mikel Arteta was left ruing his side’s profligacy in front of goal despite Nuno Tavares and Eddie Nketiah getting on the scoresheet.
“We created so many chances, but we are not converting enough,” Arteta said. “Today we should’ve scored many more goals and with the quality of the players we have up front, they have to demand much more of themselves.
“But at least we are getting there. The process is becoming much clearer, much better.
“I think without the ball as well, we worked really hard and were really efficient. We won a lot of balls in the final third so there are a lot of positives to take.”
Whilst the Spaniard will focus on the positives, many Arsenal fans can’t get over Aubameyang’s performance.
