Arsenal legend Ian Wright has claimed Chelsea will already be considering replacing Timo Werner.
Werner only arrived in the summer, joining for a £47.6million fee from RB Leipzig having scored 95 times in just 159 appearances across all competitions for the Bundesliga outfit.
But Werner has failed to replicate that form at Chelsea so far, scoring 10 and assisting as many in 39 appearances for the Blues.
That’s hardly a disastrous record, but the number of missed chances Werner has racked up has caused concern, even if he has improved significantly since the arrival of Thomas Tuchel in late January.
But even with that improvement, there have been missed chances, and that’s why Chelsea will already be considering parting ways with the German international, according to former striker Wright, who told Metro: “When you look at him and the chances he misses, no matter how low your confidence is, he shouldn’t be missing those for the calibre of striker he’s supposed to be.
“We know he scored a lot of goals for RB Leipzig, but even when you’re not playing well and your confidence is low, he shouldn’t be missing them and then you start overdoing it.
“But if it carries on as it is with Werner, if you can get a swap deal and get someone else in, there’s no way they’re not thinking about that.”

In reality, Chelsea are not likely to be considering Werner’s departure given he has still managed to rack up a respectable record of 20 goal involvements from 39 games.
Having paid such a significant fee for the 25-year-old, the Blues will likely take the view that a return of 20 goal involvements when confidence is low might just point to a much better record when Tuchel manages to get the forward confident and firing.
After all, there have been positive signs of that being the case in recent weeks.
