Inter Milan director’s four-word response when asked about Arsenal’s Hector Bellerin amid transfer links

Arsenal’s hopes of selling right-back Hector Bellerin to Inter Milan hang in the balance.

The Gunners are willing to let the Spaniard leave this summer if the price is right and a move to Spanish side Real Betis or French giants Paris Saint-Germain had been previously discussed but they are both seemingly dead in the water.

Recent weeks have seen Bellerin linked with the Nerazzurri, who are looking for a replacement for Moroccan wingback Achraf Hakimi, who they sold to PSG last week.

football.london understands that the Serie A champions are just one club around Europe considering making a move for the 26-year-old and Calciomercato recently reported that Arsenal are refusing to let Bellerin leave on loan without an obligatory buy clause in the contract that would be worth around £17million.

However, Inter reportedly would prefer the buy clause to optional instead given Bellerin’s injury record in recent years, which has been one of the reasons for his stunted development.

Inter’s sporting director Piero Ausilio was quizzed on the deal on Wednesday but refused to give anything away.

“There is no news,” he told Calciomercato.

The Gunners will be hoping that Ausilio is merely keeping his cards close to his chest and not revealing that a potential transfer for the pacey right-back has stalled, given they have also been linked with Dutch wingback Denzel Dumfries in recent weeks.

The summer window is officially open, and it’s going to be tough to keep up with the comings and goings in and out of the Emirates.

Bellerin has featured in 239 games for Arsenal across the last seven years, notching nine goals and 29 assists in what has been an inconsistent time at the Emirates.

Last season he started 24 Premier League games but found himself behind versatile English defender Calum Chambers in the pecking order towards the latter stages of the campaign.
