John Terry delivers his verdict on Chelsea’s Champions League parade with Instagram message

Chelsea legend John Terry never passes up a chance to aim a dig at Tottenham Hotspur.

Despite leaving the Blues at the end of the 2016/17 season, the former club captain still takes games against the London clubs very seriously, even during his time as part of the Aston Villa coaching staff.

In fact, one example of this was on show last season when Villa dented Tottenham’s hopes of playing Europa League football next season by winning 2-1 in north London.

As reported by the Mirror, Tottenham fans attempted to wind Terry up by singing about Ledley King being a better central defender than him during their playing days.

However, he had the perfect response.

It was revealed that Terry couldn’t resist turning around and holding up an imaginary trophy to the Spurs fans – reminding them it was yet another trophyless season in N17.

Speaking of trophies, a few weeks later Chelsea lifted European football’s biggest prize by beating Manchester City 1-0 in the Champions League final thanks to a goal from Kai Havertz.

And with the trophy back in west London, Blues supporters are waiting for the chance to see it paraded in front of them for the first time.

Because of the Covid restrictions that were in place before July 19, there wasn’t going to the usual open bus top parade that you would expect when a club has won a major trophy.

As a result, supporters will have to make do with seeing the trophy walked around Stamford Bridge ahead of Chelsea’s pre-season friendly with Spurs on August 4.

Upon hearing of this plan, Terry took to Instagram and delivered his verdict with a series of laughing and clapping emojis, whilst rounding his response off with a trophy emoji.

The summer window is officially open and now the Blues can look to build on European glory and bolster the squad to push for Premier League supremacy.
